Temple and theater of San Nicola

The archaeological complex features a semicircular theater and temple remains positioned at 520 meters above sea level on Monte San Nicola mountain.

The Roman sanctuary dates back to the Republican period, between the second and first centuries BCE, and remained undiscovered until February 2000.

The structure combines religious and entertainment functions through a temple with three chambers and a theater that accommodated 2,000 spectators.

Visitors access the archaeological site through mountain paths, as the planned cable car construction remains incomplete since 2015.

The temple and theater merge into a single architectural structure, demonstrating an exceptional combination of religious and theatrical spaces.
