Cathedral of St. Clement

The Cathedral of St. Clement features a basilica plan with a central nave, two aisles, and Corinthian columns taken from ancient Roman structures.

Construction of the cathedral began in 1050 and reached completion in 1116, marking the establishment of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Teano-Calvi.

The cathedral holds religious ceremonies throughout the year and contains a 14th-century crucifix attributed to the school of Giotto.

Visitors can access the cathedral through Teano's railway station or by taking the A1 Milan-Naples highway exit at Capua, 7 kilometers away.

Two red granite sphinxes from an ancient pagan temple stand at the cathedral's portico, while a Roman sarcophagus rests in the underground crypt.
