Basilica di Santa Maria in Foro Claudio

The stone basilica features three naves with a tri-apsed structure, incorporating local architectural elements and geometric patterns throughout its design.

Built upon a Roman temple foundation in the 5th century, the basilica served as an episcopal seat until its transfer to Carinola in 1099.

The interior walls display frescoes dating from the 10th to 16th centuries, depicting religious scenes, local trades, and daily life activities.

Access to the basilica requires advance reservations, and visitors need to descend several steps to enter the religious building.

The rear section of the basilica exhibits distinctive blind arcades and diamond-shaped patterns that differentiate it from other regional churches.
