Kakogawa

Kakogawa extends along the lower valley of the Kako River, reaching from the Harima Bay inland and covering 138 square kilometers with multiple industrial zones.

The settlement transformed from a castle town and post station during the Edo Period into a designated special city in 2002, gaining increased local autonomy.

The Saijo Kofun burial mound cluster and Kakurin-ji temple from the 12th century represent the main historical landmarks of the region.

The city maintains 26 elementary schools, 11 middle schools, and 6 high schools, with Hyogo University providing higher education opportunities for residents.

Katsumeshi, a regional dish combining beef cutlet with demi-glace sauce over rice, represents the local culinary tradition.
