Kato

The city spans across 157 square kilometers with a population of 39,628 residents distributed among 17,199 households as of April 2022.

Katō emerged from the ancient Harima Province and underwent significant changes during the Edo Period when it contained sections of Ono and Himeji domains.

The Chōkō-ji temple displays architectural excellence through its Main Hall, which has received recognition as a National Treasure of Japan.
