Maruoka Castle is one of the oldest existing castles in Japan, located in Sakai, Fukui Prefecture.
Built in 1576 by Shibata Katsutoyo, Maruoka Castle has survived several natural disasters and wars.
The castle is also known as 'Mist Castle' or 'Kasumi-ga-jō' due to a local legend.
