Hakone Ropeway, Aerial lift in Hakone, Japan.
The Hakone Ropeway stretches across three stations, connecting Sounzan Station to Togendai Station through a suspended cable car system over the mountains.
Following its construction in April 1959, the Hakone Ropeway initiated its public operations in December of the same year to facilitate mountain transportation.
The ropeway stations serve as gateways to traditional Japanese onsen baths, local restaurants, and observation points displaying Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi.
Gondolas depart every minute between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM daily, carrying up to eighteen passengers across the three-station route in approximately thirty minutes.
The Hakone Ropeway crosses over Owakudani, an active volcanic zone where sulfuric vents release steam from the earth's surface.
