Higashichikuma District

The district spans 268 square kilometers across northern Nagano Prefecture, containing five municipalities: Asahi, Chikuhoku, Ikusaka, Omi, and Yamagata.

Established on January 4, 1879, Higashichikuma District emerged from the reorganization of the former Chikuma District during Japan's administrative reforms.
