Phnom Kulen, Mountain in Cambodia

Phnom Kulen is a mountain range and historically significant site situated in Siem Reap province, Cambodia.

It's the birthplace of the Khmer Empire that ruled Southeast Asia between the 9th and 15th centuries. The mountain was consecrated as a holy site by Jayavarman II, the first King of the Khmer Empire.

Phnom Kulen is a sacred place of pilgrimage for Cambodians featuring ancient temples, and a Buddhist monastery.

Due to its ecological significance and cultural heritage, Phnom Kulen is classified as a National Park.

Unique for its gigantic reclining Buddha made from sandstone, one of the largest Buddha images in Cambodia.
