Phnom Chisor is a temple complex situated on a hill in the Cambodian countryside south of Phnom Penh, consisting of multiple structures. The site features laterite walls and sandstone elements with detailed carvings, and includes an ancient water reservoir.
This sanctuary was built in the early 1000s as a Hindu temple complex and originally bore a different name. The structures reflect architectural practices from that period in Cambodian history.
The carvings visible here show Hindu deities and stories from ancient texts that visitors can observe directly. These artworks reveal the spiritual beliefs of those who built this sanctuary.
Reaching the temple requires climbing many steps to the top, so sturdy footwear is advisable. Bring your own water and snacks, as facilities on site are limited.
