Chankiri Tree, Killing tree in Cambodia

The Chankiri Tree is a tree in the Cambodian Killing Fields against which infants were smashed because their parents were accused of crimes against the Khmer Rouge.

It was used during the Khmer Rouge regime between 1975 and 1979.

The tree is a grim reminder of the brutalities that the Cambodian people endured during the Khmer Rouge regime.

Today, it stands as a historical site with a memorial stupa built nearby to commemorate the victims.

A grim symbol of genocide, the Chankiri Tree is unlike any other historical landmark.
