The Yanggakdo Stadium stands on Yanggak Island in the Taedong River, featuring a main pitch and three training fields for athletic events.
The stadium opened on May 18, 1989, serving as a principal venue for North Korean national football teams until construction works began in 2017.
The facility includes dedicated areas for traditional Korean martial arts training, along with spaces for boxing, wrestling, and swimming activities.
The stadium contains medical facilities, broadcasting rooms, referee areas, and changing rooms to accommodate up to 30,000 spectators during matches.
Since 2017, the stadium has undergone major modifications, with the removal of its running track, pitch, individual seats, and tennis courts.
