Ilzenberg Manor

Ilzenberg Manor is a classicist estate in the Rokiškis region positioned between lakes Ilgio and Apvalaso. The complex consists of several structures including a smokehouse, barn, main dwelling, and stables that together form the working core of the property.

Baron Berndt Kersenboick I established this property in 1515 as a substantial landholding, and it passed through various hands including noble families and a German engineer before Soviet seizure. The government took control in 1940, marking a decisive shift in the estate's future.

The von Korff family left their mark through strategic marriages and built a Lutheran church near Ilsen around 1790. This religious structure shows how the estate was tied to local spiritual life and community affairs.

The main building opened to visitors in 2017 following major restoration work that started in 2012. The location between two lakes means access routes may vary with seasons and weather conditions, so planning your visit accordingly helps.

The estate passed through hands of German engineers and other owners before state seizure, a transformation that reflects how local properties became caught in major historical shifts. This succession of owners tells a story rarely visible in the buildings themselves.
