Raganos uosis, Protected ash tree in Plateliai Manor Park, Lithuania

The Raganos uosis stands 32 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 730 centimeters and spreads its branches across a 27-meter crown width.

In 1960, this more than 200-year-old ash tree received protection status and later became designated as a natural monument in the year 2000.

Lithuanian folklore connects this ash tree to tales of witches and devils, including stories of supernatural encounters in the manor park at night.

The tree grows within Žemaitija National Park boundaries, near the town of Plateliai, where visitors can find accommodations and dining establishments.

During a storm in 2008, the central trunk of this massive ash tree broke, yet it continues to stand as a testament to nature's resilience.
