Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Martyrs, Elektrėnai

The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Martyrs is a Catholic place of worship featuring a striking semi-circular entrance portal adorned with vertical crosses and a rectangular arch frame. The interior is defined by cylindrical vaults and triangular lunettes that create rhythm and structure throughout the space.

The parish was officially established in 1989 after thousands of residents petitioned for their own place of worship, having previously gathered in temporary locations. The building that stands today was later constructed and formally consecrated.

The main altar space features a sculpture of the Risen Christ, while a statue of the Virgin Mary stands in the side chapel for devotion. These two artworks shape the spiritual focus of the church for those who gather here.

The church is located on Atgimimo Square in the town center and sits near the northern shore of Elektrėnai Lake. This position between Vilnius and Kaunas makes it readily accessible for day visitors exploring the region.

Four large crosses mounted on the interior walls each bear a symbol representing one of the Gospel writers and were anointed with holy Chrism oil during the consecration. These details mark the formal dedication and remain visible to observant visitors.
