Green Spring, Natural spring and cave system in Pasvalys District Municipality, Lithuania
Green Spring is an underground water source with cave passages in Pasvalys District Municipality. The water flows from rock chambers beneath the surface and continuously feeds into a nearby river.
This spring formed around 1960 when underground water carved a channel through a sinkhole. The underground breakthrough created the passage connecting the rock chambers to the surface.
Local residents initially attempted to block the spring's flow into a small barn using stones, which proved unsuccessful due to water pressure.
This location is reachable by simple walking paths and offers free access to the spring area. Visitors should know that the water stays cold year-round and the surroundings can be wet, especially in winter.
During winter months, wild ducks gather at the spring's outlet where warm water prevents ice from forming. This seasonal occurrence makes the location a spot where visitors can watch local birds.
