Marnach transmitter, Radio transmitter facility in Hosingen, Luxembourg
The Marnach transmitter consisted of three 105-meter ground-isolated transmission towers and an additional England antenna system for regional signal distribution.
Built in 1955 on Schwaarzenhiwwel hill, the facility began operations in December 1956 with 200 kilowatts power, later expanding to 1,200 kilowatts.
The transmitter broadcast Radio Luxembourg programs in multiple languages, connecting listeners across Europe through medium wave frequencies.
The facility ceased operations on January 1, 2016, and its buildings were dismantled to make space for new developments on the 5-hectare site.
At its peak, the Marnach transmitter reached audiences from Scandinavia to Eastern Europe, making it one of Europe's strongest radio broadcasting facilities.
