Mansion of Manuc Bey, Historical mansion complex in Hîncești, Moldova.
Mansion of Manuc Bey is a complex of buildings in Hîncești that includes a main palace, a bailiff's residence, a countess's building, a hunting castle, and a watchtower. The structures follow French architectural style, featuring large windows, loggias, and symmetrical layouts across the hilltop site.
An Armenian merchant named Manuc-Emmanuel Mîrzoian bought the estate in 1815, and his son Murat and nephew Grigore built the structures between 1858 and 1861. The project reflected the wealth and influence of Armenian traders in the region during that period.
The rooms show a blend of Armenian, Turkish, Moldavian, and European styles that tells the story of who lived here over time. You can see how different building traditions came together in the same spaces, reflecting the owner's connections across regions.
The nine buildings have been restored and opened for public visits after extensive renovation funded by the European Union and based on historical records. Plan to wear comfortable shoes, as the complex spreads across a hilltop and you will walk between several structures to explore them fully.
The property sits on a hilltop with a grand avenue leading to the entrance and includes a winter garden and a nineteenth-century park with landscaped gardens. These landscape features frame the buildings in a way many visitors discover only when exploring the full grounds.
