Plaiul Fagului is a protected nature reserve in Ungheni District with diverse forest landscapes. The area contains over 900 plant species and around 140 bird species within its ecological boundaries.
The protected area was established as a scientific reserve in 1992 and marked an important step in Moldova's conservation efforts. The designation has placed the region under special protection since then.
The place serves students and researchers as a learning site for studying regional ecosystems and observing local wildlife. People come here to experience nature closely and to conduct scientific work.
The area is accessible to visitors via marked trails for hiking and cycling through the various landscapes. Accommodations are available in the nearby villages of Bahmut and Cornesti for overnight stays.
The area has specialized apitherapy facilities available to visitors. At the same time, it functions as a monitoring station to track changes in Moldova's plant and animal populations.
