Kolešino Falls, Mountain waterfall in Novo Selo, North Macedonia
Kolešino Falls is a natural waterfall in the Novo Selo municipality of North Macedonia, where water drops over a rock face and splits into several streams that join the Baba River at the bottom. Wooden bridges and viewing platforms are set up along the site so visitors can look at the falls from different angles.
The area around the falls sits at the foot of Mount Belasica, a mountain range that has served as a natural boundary for centuries and shaped how people and trade moved through the region. Over time, the waterfall became a known reference point for residents and travelers crossing this part of the mountains.
Families from nearby villages gather at the picnic tables close to the falls to share meals, especially on weekends and holidays. The spot has been a meeting place for the local community around Novo Selo for generations.
The falls can be visited at any time of year, and the paths and platforms stay accessible even in wet conditions. Sturdy footwear is a good idea since the ground near the water tends to get slippery.
In winter, the streams freeze over completely and turn the falls into a wall of natural ice against snow-covered slopes. This seasonal change gives the site a very different look from what visitors see during the warmer months.
