Grote of Sint-Jacobskerk, Gothic church in The Hague, Netherlands
The three-aisled Grote of Sint-Jacobskerk extends 93 meters into the sky with a six-sided tower containing multiple bells and a mechanical clock.
Construction of the church began in 1337, with major expansions between 1434 and 1455 transforming it from a cruciform design to a hall church format.
The interior holds 34 escutcheons of knights from the Order of the Golden Fleece and features a carved wooden pulpit from 1550.
The church functions as a cultural venue at Rond de Grote Kerk 10, hosting concerts and providing guided tours of its architectural features.
Two stained glass windows sponsored by Charles V survived a fire in 1539, while all other original windows were destroyed and subsequently replaced.
