Het Oude Loo, Medieval hunting lodge and château in Apeldoorn, Netherlands
The castle features a symmetrical U-shaped layout with round corner towers, residential wings, and a restored moat surrounding the structure.
William III of Orange acquired the property in 1684, leading to the construction of the larger Het Loo Palace nearby between 1686 and 1688.
The Royal Loo Hawking Club gathered at the castle during the 1840s, bringing together members of European nobility for falconry activities.
While the castle remains closed to visitors as a royal residence, the surrounding gardens open to the public during April and May.
Louis Napoleon filled the castle moat during his reign following a childhood prediction that he would meet his end by drowning.
