Willem Witsenhuis, Historical artist residence in Oosterpark, Netherlands
The Willem Witsenhuis features rooms decorated with lithographed wallpaper and contains over 3000 paintings, furniture pieces, carpets, and books.
Eduard Cuypers designed this house in 1884, which became the residence of painter Willem Witsen from 1891 to 1893 and again from 1904 to 1923.
The house served as a meeting place for members of the Tachtigers literary movement, hosting numerous artists and writers during the late 19th century.
Two rooms of the house, the Witsen Room and Verlaine Room, are open for visits upon written request to the management committee.
Three apartments within the building are reserved for young Dutch writers, who receive five-year residencies through an application process.
