Alnes Lighthouse, Heritage lighthouse in Giske Municipality, Norway
Alnes Lighthouse is a navigation structure on a Norwegian island with a square white tower marked by two horizontal red stripes. The structure rises about 22 meters above sea level and contains a gallery and exhibition spaces.
The original structure was built in 1852 and replaced in 1876 with the current tower to assist fishing vessels on the Norwegian west coast. The replacement improved navigation aid for ships using these waters.
The keeper's house now serves as a museum with maritime objects and Norwegian art displayed across its rooms.
The tower is open to visitors from May to October and is about 30 minutes by car from Ålesund. The drive to the site takes you through varied island scenery with good views along the way.
The 360-degree view from the top platform shows the North Sea, surrounding mountains, and the nearby island of Godøy from a unique vantage point. This highest spot gives photographers and visitors rare angles of the island landscape.
