Diamanten, Glass office building in Fornebu, Norway
Diamanten is a glass office building in Fornebu, in the municipality of Bærum, Norway, recognized by its angular, faceted form. The structure has three floors and provides office space for several companies.
The building was completed in 1985 and first served as the headquarters of Norwegian airline Braathens SAFE. Over the following years it also housed SAS Braathens and then Norwegian Air Shuttle.
The name "Diamanten" means "The Diamond" in Norwegian, a reference to the angular glass surfaces that catch the light throughout the day. Visitors walking around the building can see how the facade changes appearance depending on the angle and the time of day.
The building is in an office park in Fornebu, easy to reach by car with parking nearby. Those arriving on foot or by public transport can spot it easily by its glass facade.
The building was officially inaugurated on December 16, 1985 by Johan J. Jacobsen, who was then Norway's Minister of Transport and Communications. Having a government minister open a private office building was unusual and reflected how important Braathens SAFE was to Norwegian aviation at the time.
