Grefsenåsen

Grefsenåsen is a mountain summit near Oslo that rises to 377 meters and offers views across the city with natural forest trails running along its slopes. The terrain is accessible via marked paths that lead from the city center outward.

The name comes from a former farm called Grefsen that once stood in this area. A hilltop restaurant opened in 1927 and continues to serve visitors today.

The summit serves as a gathering place where locals spend time outdoors throughout the year. In warmer months, people hike the forest paths, while snowy seasons bring skiers and sledders to its slopes.

The summit is easy to reach with well-marked paths suitable for both new and experienced hikers. Parking is available nearby, and the area is walkable year-round, though winter brings snow and ice that may require extra care.

This peak sits within Lillomarka, a vast forest area spanning thousands of hectares that serves as Oslo's main outdoor recreation zone. Many visitors don't realize this woodland network stretches many kilometers in all directions with countless hidden trails to explore.
