Parkteatret, Cultural heritage theatre and music venue in Grünerløkka, Norway
Parkteatret is a theater and music venue housed in a neoclassical building on Olaf Ryes plass in eastern Oslo. The space contains a cinema hall on the ground level, a concert hall on the upper floor, and a bar that serves coffee and pastries during the day.
The building was constructed in 1907 as a cinema and underwent major renovation in 1918. Following this transformation, it developed into a cultural space combining film, theater, and music.
The venue takes its name from the square where it sits and now serves as a gathering place for live music, theater, and film. It functions as a social hub where the local arts community comes together for performances and creative events.
The venue is easily accessible from the street level at the square, and the bar operates throughout the week. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed daytime experience with refreshments or return for evening performances and shows.
The foyer of the former cinema was converted into a functioning bar that maintains a direct connection to the building's past. The neon signage from the 1960s remains a striking detail on the exterior.
