Øya stadion

Øya stadion contains track and field facilities with multiple training areas and competition zones spread across its grounds in central Trondheim.

The stadium opened in 1900 as a dual-purpose venue, serving both as an athletics field and skating rink until the completion of Leangen Ice Hall in 1979.

Throughout its existence, the stadium has maintained its position as the primary location for athletics competitions and championships in the Trondheim region.

The facility provides regular training opportunities for local sports clubs, with dedicated spaces for various track and field disciplines throughout the year.

Oscar Mathisen established a world record at this stadium in 1917, completing the 10,000-meter speed skating race in 17 minutes and 36.4 seconds.
