Haslum Church, Medieval stone church in Bærum Municipality, Norway
Haslum Church is a white stone building with a cross shape in Bærum. The long rectangular nave was added later, and the building contains elements from many different time periods of its existence.
The church was created around 1190 and was built in Romanesque style from the start. In the 13th century it gained a cross shape to make room for more worshippers.
The church displays works of art that connect its past and present together. The 1631 altar and ceiling paintings from the 1920s shape the interior and tell of different artistic periods.
The building is located at Kirkeveien 143 and is regularly open for services. Visitors should check ahead, as exact opening times vary.
During the Middle Ages the church housed an impressive network of twelve separate altars. Today visitors can see some of the original statues and figures in the University of Oslo History Museum.
