The Aust-Agder museum og arkiv operates through four departments, managing 22 locations across eastern Agder with exhibitions and research facilities.
The institution formed in 2015 through the merger of Aust-Agder cultural historical center, Setesdalsmuseet, and Grimstad city museums into one administrative unit.
The museum exhibitions explore regional themes including the 1886 Bank Crash in Arendal and the Fredensborg shipwreck with artifacts from slave trade history.
KUBEN features a reading room containing 8,500 shelf meters of archives and 50,000 books, offering free access and wireless internet to visitors.
The museum maintains the Ibsen-museet in Grimstad, connecting visitors to the literary heritage of renowned Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen.
