Sjølingstad Uldvarefabrik, Industrial textile museum in Lindesnes, Norway.
Sjølingstad Uldvarefabrik is a wool textile factory in southern Norway where raw fiber was converted into finished cloth in a single location. The site contains its original power plant, spinning mill, dyeing facility, weaving shop, and finishing area with equipment from 1894.
The factory was established in 1894 and operated as a regional textile center for nearly a century. Production ceased in 1984, but the entire plant with its machinery and buildings was preserved.
The factory demonstrates how wool was processed into finished cloth using period machinery that workers still operated daily. Visitors can see each step from raw fibers to woven textile.
The site is open weekdays during daytime hours with guided tours available to explain the operations. Wear sturdy shoes as the buildings contain stairs and the machinery areas have uneven floors.
The facility still produces wool products using original recipes and methods from its founding era. This living practice shows the factory operates as more than a museum, keeping traditional techniques alive.
