Valbergtårnet, Fire observation tower in Stavanger, Norway.
The white stone tower rises above the city center at Valberget 4, providing a complete view of Stavanger and its harbor from multiple observation points.
Built between 1850 and 1853, Valbergtårnet functioned as the main fire observation point where watchmen monitored the city and alerted residents of potential dangers.
The tower inspired writer Torbjørn Egner to create the character Tobias in his children's stories about Kardemommeby, based on the real watchman Tobias Sandstøl.
Visitors can access the tower and its first-floor museum Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with admission prices at 50 NOK for adults.
The last guard, Tobias Sandstøl, maintained watch over Stavanger from this tower for 18 years until 1922, marking the end of an era.
