Chavin de Huantar, Archaeological site in Peru

Chavín de Huántar is an archaeological site containing ruins and artifacts from the ancient Chavín culture.

The site was a major center of culture and religion for the Chavín people from around 1200 to 500 B.C.

It is known for its distinctive art style, which features complex iconography and symbolism.

The site is located in the Ancash Region of Peru, about three hours by car from Huaraz.

One of its most famous features is the Lanzón, a granite monolith carved into the image of a deity.
