Forest Opera, Open-air theatre in Sopot, Poland

The Forest Opera stands within a forest hollow, featuring an amphitheater with 5,047 seats and an orchestra pit capable of accommodating 110 musicians.

Built in 1909 by bandmaster Paul Walther-Schaffer from Gdansk, the venue opened with a performance of 'The Night Camp in Granada' amid the surrounding hills.

The theater gained European recognition through the Zoppot Festspiele opera festivals, which regularly presented Wagner's works during the interwar period.

Located 15 minutes uphill from Bohaterów Monte Cassino street, visitors should follow ul. 1-go Maja to the end and take the pathway past Hotel Opera.

From 1964, the venue hosts the Sopot International Song Festival, which reached audiences across Eastern Europe through television broadcasts during the Cold War.
