The cemetery spans 33.4 hectares and contains over 250,000 marked graves, including mass graves from the Warsaw Ghetto period.
Established in 1806 outside the city trenches, this burial ground became the primary cemetery for Warsaw's Jewish community, which numbered 330,000 people by 1914.
The cemetery features sections for Orthodox quarters, Reform Judaism, children, military graves, and victims of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
The cemetery opens Monday through Thursday from 10:00 to 17:00, with an entrance fee of 10 PLN and guided tours available upon request.
The graves face with their backs to the cemetery gate, following a belief that the deceased will exit without turning during the resurrection.
