Dobrzyń, Medieval town in Golub-Dobrzyń, Poland

The settlement stretches along the Drwęca River banks, forming the eastern section of the combined municipality of Golub-Dobrzyń in north-central Poland.

Count Ignacy Działyński established Dobrzyń as an independent town in 1789, which later merged with neighboring Golub to form a single municipality in 1951.

The town maintains extensive civil records dating back to the 1800s, documenting the lives of Jewish and non-Jewish residents through births, marriages, and deaths.

Visitors can access genealogical research materials through local archives and the JRI-Poland platform, which contains detailed surname lists from the region.

The town experienced multiple territorial changes, belonging to Prussia after 1793 and later becoming part of the Duchy of Warsaw before joining Congress Poland.
