Synagoga Nowomiejska w Dębicy

The Synagoge in Dębica is a rectangular building with a three-part prayer hall whose interior is divided into nine sections by polygonal columns. The main hall measures roughly 16 by 30 meters and shows the typical layout of a large synagogue from this region.

The building was constructed in the second half of the 18th century by the local Jewish community and replaced an earlier structure at the same location. Over the decades it was modified through various renovations before being rediscovered as a site worth preserving.

The interior holds decorative elements that reflect Jewish artistic traditions of the period. These details show how the space was designed to create a meaningful setting for prayer.

The building sits in central Dębica and is visible from outside. Visitors should know that it is a protected monument and access may be limited depending on any ongoing restoration work.

The ceiling was originally designed with sail vaults supported by the polygonal columns, creating an architectural feature rarely seen across Polish synagogues. This construction gave a sense of visual lightness to the otherwise substantial interior space.
