The Church of Saint Joseph is a Baroque structure in the Podgórze district, featuring a prominent tower rising 80 meters high. Its brick facade displays detailed stonework, carved water spouts, and saint sculptures that give the building its distinctive appearance.
An original church structure from 1832 was replaced by a much larger building constructed between 1905 and 1909 to serve the expanding congregation. The rebuild occurred because the parish had grown to over 17,000 members and the earlier church could no longer fit its worshippers.
The church serves as a gathering place for the Podgórze neighborhood, where locals regularly meet and celebrate community moments. You can observe how the building anchors daily life in this part of the city.
