Centum Cellas, Archaeological site in Belmonte e Colmeal da Torre, Portugal.

The Torre de Centum Cellas stands as a three-story rectangular stone structure with multiple openings and two decorative friezes separating each floor level.

Built in the first century, this Roman monument served as part of a villa belonging to Lucius Caecilius, a wealthy tin merchant during the Roman occupation.

Archaeological excavations in the 1960s and 1990s revealed that the tower formed the urban section of an extensive Roman villa complex in the region.

Located on Monte de Santo Antão, the site offers guided tours and will feature a new interpretative center opening on April 26, 2024.

The structure survived a significant fire in the third century and later housed a medieval chapel dedicated to Saint Cornelius until the 18th century.
