Rohia Monastery is a monastic complex in the Maramureș region situated at 550 meters elevation on a forested hillside. The complex includes a church, museum, summer altar, and guest accommodations for visitors.
The monastery was founded in 1923 by Priest Nicolae Gherman and consecrated in 1926. The current church building dates to 1996 and follows traditional design principles.
The monastery houses a significant library that continues to serve researchers and theological students today. Visitors can explore how the place functions as a center for study and spiritual learning.
The monastery lies about 50 kilometers from Baia Mare and sits surrounded by forest, making it a quiet and isolated location. Visitors should prepare for hilly terrain and wear appropriate footwear.
