Lake Tarnița extends over 215 hectares with a length of 9 kilometers, reaching depths of 70 meters in the Someșul Cald River valley.
The concrete arch dam, measuring 97 meters in height and 237 meters in length, was constructed in 1974 to create this water reserve.
Local residents organize swimming and fishing competitions at the lake, fostering community gatherings throughout the recreational season.
The reservoir functions as the primary water source for the Gilău treatment station, supplying drinking water to Cluj-Napoca and surrounding areas.
