Săpânța-Peri Monastery

Săpânța-Peri is an Orthodox monastery in Maramureș featuring a wooden church that rises along the Tisza River's banks. The structure blends traditional regional architecture with a distinctive pointed spire design.

The original monastery was founded in 1391 and served as a religious center for the region for several centuries. The modern complex rebuilt in the early 2000s carries forward this legacy on the same site.
