Rumyantsev Museum, Historical museum at English Embankment, Saint Petersburg and Pashkov House, Moscow, Russia

The Rumyantsev Museum contained thousands of books, manuscripts, paintings, coins, minerals, and ethnographic materials in both Saint Petersburg and Moscow locations.

Count Nikolai Rumyantsev established the museum in Saint Petersburg in 1831, which later moved to Moscow in 1862 following Emperor Alexander II's decision.

The museum held 104 early printed books from before 1501, plus numerous Russian manuscripts including editions of The Song of Igor's Campaign.

The museum allowed free entry for visitors during daylight hours in winter and until 8 PM in summer throughout its operational period.

The collection split in 1924, with books forming the Lenin Library while art pieces transferred to various Moscow museums including the Museum of Fine Arts.
