The Alexander Shilov Gallery occupies a 19th-century mansion at 5 Znamenka Street, displaying over 1,200 oil paintings and graphic artworks.
The gallery opened in 1997 when Alexander Shilov, holder of USSR People's Artist title, donated his collection of 350 artworks to the Russian state.
The gallery exhibits portraits of Russian cultural figures, military leaders, religious personalities, and ordinary citizens through realistic painting techniques.
The gallery opens Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00, with extended hours until 21:00 on Thursdays, offering guided tours in multiple languages.
The exhibition space expanded in 2003 through an underground complex connecting two Empire-style mansions, creating 22 exhibition halls across multiple levels.
