Saint Stephen of Perm Orthodox cathedral in Syktyvkar

The Saint Stephen of Perm Cathedral rises to 64 meters with a copper roof and stainless steel domes in the center of Syktyvkar.

The cathedral's construction began in 1962, but financial limitations caused delays until its completion in 1881, followed by Soviet-era repurposing and restoration from 1996 to 2001.

The cathedral bears the name of Saint Stephen, who introduced Orthodox Christianity to the Komi people and developed their first written alphabet in the 14th century.

Located near Stefanovskaya Square, the cathedral serves as the main religious center for both Vorkuta and Syktyvkar dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The renovation increased the cathedral's height to 56.5 meters, making it stand above the surrounding buildings with granite floors and traditional brick construction methods.
