Троицкий собор

The Trinity Cathedral is an Orthodox church building in Kurgan featuring white walls and green domes that reflect traditional Russian church design. The structure completed in 2021 houses an upper and lower church with an ornate interior featuring religious artworks and decorative elements.

The original church building was founded in 1767 and served as the city's main religious center until its closure in 1937. The structure was demolished in 1957, leaving a long gap before the current reconstruction brought it back to the landscape.

The cathedral takes its name from the Holy Trinity and serves as a gathering place for worshippers today. The seven-tier iconostasis in the upper church displays traditional religious imagery that shapes the interior experience.

The cathedral is easy to access and features a modern design that accommodates regular worship services. Visitors should be prepared that this is an active place of worship, so appropriate dress is expected.

The new building draws architectural inspiration from the 12th-century Church of the Intercession on the Nerl, a famous monument in Russian religious history. This connection links Kurgan's modern structure to one of the most important sites in the country's faith tradition.
