Լեսյա Ուկրաինկայի հուշարձան, Memorial sculpture in Yalta, Crimea
The monument to Lesya Ukrainka, by sculptor Halyna Kalchenko and architect Anatoliy Ihnashchenko, shows the poet seated as if on the seashore. Its pedestal is made of diabase boulders quarried in Crimea near Mount Ayu-Dah. A bronze inscription reads "Lesya Ukrainka", and the author's mark is cut as "H. Kalchenko, 1971".
Sculptor Halyna Kalchenko and architect Anatoliy Ihnashchenko created the monument in 1971; it was unveiled on 16 August 1972, the centenary year of Lesya Ukrainka's birth. The authors donated the composition to the residents of Yalta. It stands opposite the house at Katerynynska Street 8, where the poet rented a room from October to December 1897.
The monument stands opposite house No. 8 on Katerynynska Street, where Lesya Ukrainka rented a room from October to December 1897. The bronze plaque on the diabase base reads "Lesya Ukrainka"; the sculptor's mark reads "H. Kalchenko, 1971".
The monument stands on Yekaterininskaya Street, directly in front of house No. 8, where Lesya Ukrainka rented a room from October to December 1897. It is a street-side sculpture reached on foot, not a park monument; the Nikitsky Botanical Garden is several kilometres away, so it cannot be combined on the same walk.
The bronze lettering on the pedestal reads "Леся Украинка", and the sculptor's signature is cut into the stone as "Г. Кальченко, 1971 р." The diabase blocks of the pedestal were quarried in Crimea near Mount Ayu-Dag, so the stone itself comes from the coast the figure faces.
