Örkelljunga Municipality

Örkelljunga Municipality is a rural municipality in Skåne County in northwestern Sweden with forests, farmland, and scattered lakes across its landscape. Woodlands and open agricultural areas alternate throughout the terrain, with small villages and towns serving as local centers.

The current municipal structure formed in 1971 when the original Örkelljunga area merged with neighboring Skånes-Fagerhult to create a single administrative entity. This consolidation defined the region's modern organization and has remained the framework since then.

The municipality comprises four separate towns, each with its own character and community. Örkelljunga, Skånes-Fagerhult, Åsljunga, and Eket form a network of places where daily life unfolds across the landscape.

Bus services regularly connect the municipality with larger regional centers and towns. Most locations are easily accessible, and the city of Helsingborg is within a short drive from here.

The local volleyball team, Örkelljunga Volleybollklubb, has achieved multiple national championships and maintains competitive presence at high levels. This sporting success from a rural municipality's club is notable for the region.
