Hedared stave church

The Hedared stave church measures 35 square meters and features vertical wooden posts connected by horizontal beams in traditional Nordic construction methods.

Dendrochronological analysis revealed the logs used for construction were cut between 1498 and 1503, confirming the late medieval origin of the structure.

The church contains a 13th-century wooden altar and sculptures of the Virgin Mary and Saint Francis, along with ceiling paintings and a baptismal font.

The building underwent substantial restoration in the 1990s, which included elevating the entire structure by 70 centimeters and installing new flooring.

This religious building stands as the only preserved medieval stave church in Sweden, representing a rare example of this architectural style outside Norway.
