Riksäpplet, 17th century warship wreck near Dalarö, Sweden.
The Riksäpplet rests at a depth of 15 meters near Aspön, with its wooden remains and artifacts scattered across the seabed at coordinates 59.11N, 18.39E.
Built in 1661 at Gamla Varvet in Gothenburg, the 47-meter vessel carried 84 cannons before sinking during a storm near Dalarö fortress in June 1676.
The shipwreck influenced local geography, with the rock formation where it sank receiving the name 'Äpplet' in commemoration of the maritime incident.
The Maritime Museum in Stockholm holds numerous sculptures and artifacts recovered from the wreck site during various salvage operations in the 20th century.
Parts of the black oak timber salvaged from Riksäpplet through dynamite blasting in 1868 were used to construct gates at Stockholm City Hall.
